A WOMAN who breached a suspended sentence by stealing washing powder and fraudulently using another person’s bank card to buy groceries has been jailed for seven days.

Blackburn magistrates heard how Helen Simpson Scott Bell, 32, breached the suspended sentence by stealing three boxes of Ariel washing powder from Wilkinsons Store, Burnley, on October 26.

That put Simpson Scott Bell, of Branch Road, Burnley, in breach of a 42 day suspended sentence she received on April 25 for a conviction of theft.

But the court heard she breached the order again on November 18 by stealing a Capital One bank card belonging to Sarah Trickett and using it to buy £28 of groceries and tobacco. Both those offences took place in Burnley.

She pleaded guilty to shoplifting, theft, fraud by false representation, failing to surrender to custody and breaching a suspended sentence.
