A DRIVER who knocked a motorcyclist of his machine drove off after giving a false name.
Blackburn magistrates heard police traced Stephen Ashworth and he admitted leaving the scene because he was not insured.
Ashworth, 38, of Frederick Street, Darwen, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention, driving without insurance and failing to stop after an accident. He was banned from driving for six months, fined £300 with £85 costs, £30 victim surcharge and £300 compensation.
Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said David Wood was driving his bike along Sudellside Street when a Vauxhall Zafira turned across his path and knocked him off.
Mr Wood stood in front of the vehicle when it looked as though it was going to be drive away. Ashworth got out and his vehicle rolled back into another car. He gave a false name to the owner of that car and then drove off.
Ashworth later admitted to police that he hadn't seen the bike and left the scene because he knew he had no insurance.
