A TEENAGER was taken to hospital after falling off his bicycle in Darwen earlier today.

The 14-year-old boy was injured after an accident in bad weather near the Punch Bowl Inn on the corner of Roman Road and Pot House Lane, at 10.10am.

Duty Inspector Conrad Tapp, from Lancshire police, said the boy was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital.

He added: “His auntie was with him but he was found lying in a puddle and was freezing cold.

“He crashed into a lamp post after the brake cables on his bike failed.”

The nature of the boy’s injuries are unknown.

Poor reporting. The young lad had local residents attending as soon as he had the accident. His family were informed within 10 minutes, emergency services notified straight away. The 'blue light response' ambulance took nearly an hour to reach him. As he landed in the road gutter, obviously in shock and with unknown injuries he wasn't moved until the emergency services arrived. We did everything we could to keep him calm and relatively comfortable in lousy weather conditions - blankets and brollies to shelter him. I truly hope his injuries ended up not being too severe - but to suggest he was abandoned and 'found' by an aunt in the road is ridiculous.

Blimey - came home from work today to a beautiful bunch of flowers from the boy who came off his bike - completely unnecessary 'J' - but thank you so much, really pleased you're ok after yesterday's ordeal. Hope you've got your brakes fixed before you venture out in another monsoon! :-)

lol, he wasn't even hurt!
why was this even made into an article?!? do these journalists not have anything better to report on? and to say 'the nature of the boys injuries are unknown' is silly as he was released the same day.
