A CAMPAIGN has been launched to send a disabled Accrington youngster to Disney World.

Four-year-old Finley Rosbotham was born with part of his brain missing, and his family was told he would never be able to walk.

But young Finley, who has cerebral palsy, defied doctors and now goes to a mainstream school.

His full-time mum, Kelly, said previous plans to send Finley to America for an expensive operation were shelved, and family friends now want to send him to a Disney resort.

She said: “We didn’t go to the US because he was doing fabulous by himself. He’s in mainstream school now.

“He has struggled and he will never be the brightest button in the box, but he’s doing better than we would have thought, so we are happy.”

Finley, who lives with his mum, dad Ivan, brother Mackenzie, and sisters Ellie and Paige, in Pearl Court, Accrington, attended Holly House in Accrington, which provides comprehensive support to youngsters with special needs.

The family has campaigned tirelessly through the Finley’s Friend charity to raise new services and products for the charity’s Blackburn Road premises.

Kelly said: “At Holly House they have been able to buy smart TVs and iPads.

“They think he should get something back.

“He has around 129 people on Facebook wanting to send him. We have never asked anybody for help but all our friends have come together and said they want to do something for Finley.

“We have called it Finley’s Disney Dream.”

Several events are planned for the new year, including an arts and crafts fair.

And the family is accepting PayPal donations at the website which is finleysdisneydream@gmail.com.

To send Finley, who adores Disney Pixar’s Toy Story character, Buzz Lightyear, to Disney – which has resorts around the world– would cost around £2,000, the family said.
