A ‘GOOD samaritan’ who alerted police after spotting a man being assaulted in Darwen is been sought by police.

Detectives said the taxi driver, who drove out of his way to alert a police officer after spotting the attack in Sudell Road, could hold vital clues.

After being alerted to the incident, officers arrived at the scene and helped the victim, a man in his mid 30’s.

The victim was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital where he was treated for a suspected broke nose, two broken ribs and an eye injury.

He has since been released from hospital, police said.

DS Marc Saunders of Blackburn CID, is leading the investigation.

He said: “This taxi driver was a good samaritan who went out of his way to alert police after spotting a fight take place.

“I urge this man to come forward as he maybe able to help us with our piece together what happened.

“I also urge anyone who saw the incident on Sudell Road, Darwen around 2pm on Thursday to come forward.”

The attacker is described as being in his mid 30’s, white and around 5ft 8ins tall.

He was wearing a black fleece and black tracksuit bottoms.

The victim is also described as white, 6ft and slim.

He was wearing black trousers and a khaki jacket.
