Rossendale and Darwen MP campaigns to fight 'silent killer' carbon monoxide

AN East Lancashire MP has backed a nationwide campaign to raise awareness of ‘silent killer’ carbon monoxide.

Rossendale and Darwen MP Jake Berry has lodged his support for National Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week, which runs until Sunday.

Carbon Monoxide Awareness is a registered national charity based in the North West. It actively supports the victims of carbon monoxide poisoning and raises awareness of the deadly gas.

Mr Berry said: “More volunteers are needed to help continue this charity’s valuable work helping victims and their families.

But crucially, help is needed to raise essential funding to continue to fight this silent killer.

“If you could help raise funds and encourage people to volunteer for Carbon Monoxide Awareness, please contact charity president at Lynn Griffiths on lynn@covictim.org who would like to hear of your ideas.”

It would seem Mr Berry could lobby to have the carbon monoxide monitors made VAT free. Why are these not built in to new houses by law?

Maybe he could align himself to some other ' i am such a nice man campaigns .
and that way all the nice people will vote for him...

Personally I am a nasty git.... so I just think he is trying to get himself some kudos points.

Jake Berry could dontate a million pounds to some worthy cause and still you lot would find something to carp about! To you lot, he just cant do anything right.
Give the guy a break. I might not agree with his politics but as my towns MP at least he holds regular surgeries and can often be seen walking around town, so he is very accessible.
Can't ever remember seeing Janet Anderson on a walkabout!

Perhaps Mr 'Nasty Git' - as he calls himself - would think differently if he had lost a daughter (as I have) - two months after her wedding - to carbon monoxide. Smoke alarms are everywhere but everyone needs to understand the danger of this 'silent killer'. The symptoms of carbon monoxide are like flu, or even a hangover, and I believe that many people are affected by slow doses of carbon monoxide than is even realised. We are another small charity in this field and applaud the work of CO Awareness. MPs should makes sure that the big, wealthy energy companies are putting ads on tv for audible carbon monoxide detectors.

whilst I sympathise with this cause surely the country has much bigger issues to deal with and all MPs should be working on these rather than jumping on band wagons and looking to get easy votes.
I have sent several request for info from this MP as a constituent and never received a satisfactory reply. . Clearly a man of little substance and happy to take an MP's over inflated salary and not look after the people that put him in his position. Waste of time.

Actually I very rarely see him walking around town, however I did regularly see Janet Anderson.

Janet Anderson held the same number of advice surgeries as Jake Berry and unlike Jake an appointment in advance wasn't necessary. So in fact, Janet Anderson was more accessible !

In addition, unlike Jake Berry Janet Anderson used to put out contact information / leaflets etc; all year round.

Parachuted in Labour MP Janet Anderson was a joke whose only interest was to line her own pockets and was during her time, in the top ten expense claimants in the UK out of 650 MP's. Parachuted in Conservative MP Mr Jake Berry is also a joke who also likes filling those tiresome expense forms out and does absolutely nothing for Rossendale, he is interested only in his own career full stop. You might think we could have learned our lesson by now and realised that the reason Rossendale gets nothing from goverment and is twenty years behind the times is because we might as well have had no MP during that time. We need to stop voting for parachuted in, politically correct, self serving idiots. We need an independent MP from Rossendale who will fight for Rossendale.

I back the carbon monoxide awareness. It is ridiculous that we have jokers who fit and repair gas appliances and instal boilers and get away with it and they are not trained,. For instance all gas appliances have to be installed by a trained gas engineer who incidentially has to work hard to pass the exams and have the right equipment to do the job, only find that it is not policed properly. We know that plumbers merchants and big DIY superstores are allowed to sell boilers and gas fires etc to general public who have no idea of the dangers of gas in it's not installed correctly,,,,It could be your young child who is killed along with the whole family.. It should be policed...
