Pipe theft leads to flood at Blackburn warehouse
5:00pm Thursday 15th November 2012 in News
A WAREHOUSE was flooded after thieves tried to steal pipes from the sprinkler system.
Firefighters were called to the former Scapa building at Witton Business Park, Blackburn, at 8pm on Tuesday to help clear the water.
Crew manager Dave Hilliard said: “When the thieves tried to steal the pipes, the pressurised water system has caused a major flood. The building was not occupied but there is a lot of water damage.”
Mushtaq Khanjra, finance director or commercial letting firm Adhan, which owns the site, said damage was minimal.
He said: “Our in-house team has assessed the damage.
“It is probably kids who have gone in and caused the damage, which has now been repaired.”
