Drunk Oswaldtwistle man drove to police station
2:49pm Monday 12th November 2012 in News
A 34-YEAR-OLD man drank nine pints of cider, returned home to get his car and then drove to the police station.
Blackburn magistrates heard officers found Andrew McCumskay pressing the intercom on the police station car park barrier and when asked what he was doing he replied; “I’m drunk. I drove here. Please take my licence off me.”
McCumskay, of Blackburn Road, Oswaldtwistle, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. He was made subject to community supervision for 12 months, an electronically monitored curfew for 10 weeks, banned from driving for 28 months and told to pay £145 costs.
Richard Prew, defending, said: “He has been taking anti-depressants and says his life lacks direction so perhaps this was some kind of cry for help.”
