CELEBRITY chef Nigel Haworth says he is still waiting for talks with the owners of Blackburn Rovers over the details of an extension to a catering contract at Ewood.

Nigel and business partner Craig Bancroft are managing directors of Langho-based Northcote Group which has provided corporate hospitality for the football club since 2001.

Nigel said current negotiations were “up in the air” while the fate of the club’s Premier League plight was decided.

He said: “We’re not planning to pull out of Blackburn Rovers, and there’s a year left on our contract there.

“Normally, contract discussions would have started by now, but with the change of ownership and a different way of working, we’re still waiting to see what happens.

“I think it’s sensible that the new owners want to see whether the club stay up or not before committing, and I don’t think we’re the priority at the moment.

“I’m looking forward to sitting around a table with them once the season is over.”

Nigel, who gained a Michelin Star in 1996, added that he was worried about Rovers’ survival chances.

He said: “Hopefully we will manage to stay up, but I think we need a miracle.

“It’s still within the power of the team to do it, and the home games coming up are winnable, but the results from other teams around us haven’t gone our way recently.”
