A POSTER campaign has been launched in a bid to find a teenager who disappeared six days ago.

The posters have been produced by Lancashire Constabulary, in conjunction with the Lancashire Telegraph, as the search goes on for Attia Nissa, 16, of Bromley Street, Blackburn, who went missing last Friday.

Attia has not been seen since she left Ashworth Nursery, Addison Close, and police are appealing for information from anyone who knows her where-abouts.

The posters will be put up across the town and Detective Chief Inspector Neil Hunter, who is leading the case, praised the Lancashire Telegraph's involvement in helping find Attia.

He said: "I have worked on many of these cases and I think poster campaigns and leaflet drops tend to have a tremendous impact on gathering information.

"They tend to bring the community together and this sends a clear message that we want to find Attia safe and well. It is important that we get the message out there as much as possible.

"It is a credit to the Lancashire Telegraph that they will go to this length to support the police in our attempts to secure the safe return of Attia. This is a classic example of the police working together with partners to achieve our aims."

Police have spoken to Attia's four sisters, brother and father to try to find out about her life, and her mother is currently in Pakistan.

Attia, who speaks poor English, vanished after walking to the nursery with her three-year-old niece around 12.45pm on Friday.

She was wearing a traditional Muslim dress which was red with white flowers, a black waist-length jacket, and a red scarf.

Attia was due to start an English language course at Blackburn College.
