A CAT has been rescued after getting stuck up a 20ft tree for a couple of days.

Fire crews were called by the RSPCA to assist in retrieving a cat which was stuck approximately 20ft up a tree on Ravenglass Close, Blackburn, just yesterday just after 12pm.

The cat, which was believed to be stuck on the branch for at least 36 hours, ran to the end of the branch when officers arrived.

The attending officers had to cut the branch and let the cat down ‘gently’ onto the top of the fire truck.

The animal has been left in the care of the RSPCA.

The rescue comes just weeks after a feral cat had to be rescued by fire crews after it spent 48 hours trapped on Leeds and Liverpool canal in Blackburn.

The cat was later tested for FIV and had to be put down.
