A MAJOR road through Blackburn has been partially closed as emergency services cut free a woman who has been injured in a car crash.
Police, paramedics and firefighters are still at the scene of the two-car crash which has happened in Barbra Castle Way, close to the junction with Whalley New Road, at around 5.40pm.
The incident involved a Skoda Octavia taxi and a Peugeot 307.
Two crews from Blackburn Fire Station are cutting the woman free from the Peugeot.
She has suffered a back injury but a police spokesman said her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
At 6.50pm police said they expected the partial road closure to remain in place for another 45 minutes. Motorists are being advised to avoid the area if possible.
A police spokesman said: "We were made aware of a two vehicle road traffic collision in Barbra Castle Way, Blackburn, at around 5.40pm this evening. It has involved a Skoda Octavia taxi and a Peugeot 307. We are at the scene with paramedics and firefighters.
"A female is still in a car complaining of back pain. Her injuries are not thought to be life- threatening or life altering. Firefighters are cutting her from the vehicle as a precaution.
"The road will be closed for another 45 minutes and I would urge drivers to avoid the area if possible."
