A SPECIAL Christmas market shopping experience will be held for visitors of a town centre this weekend.

Blackburn BID has joined forces with Blackburn with Darwen Council to deliver a new festive event, The Christmas Party on the Market.

Following the 'success' of the Blackburn BID street fairs in May, July and September, the teams are now collaborating to fill up the available stall holder spaces within Blackburn’s popular indoor market for a one off 'weatherproof' homegrown Christmas market event.

The extra pop-up traders, craft and gift stalls will spill out onto the streets with festive street food and drink feast on Ainsworth Street in the plaza space adjacent to the bus station.

Free festive entertainment provided by Blackburn Market which will include the opportunity to step inside a giant snow globe, a Santa sleigh and a rodeo reindeer ride.

Cllr Phil Riley, who is the executive member for the regeneration portfolio, said: "The BID along with the council have put together a set of events which we hope will bring the community into the town centre and add to people's festive spirit.

"There will be plenty of market stalls both insider the market and outside and I suppose we are hoping the weather isn't too bad."

The Christmas Party on the Market will take place tomorrow from 10am to 6pm.
