RESIDENTS from throughout East Lancashire travelled out and about to a variety of events to celebrate Heritage Open Days.

People were given a helping hand to travel to events as Darwen Transport Trust put on vintage buses at the Cathedral Quarter every hour from Blackburn to Darwen

In Blackburn a ‘painting for a day’ event was held at the Bureau, inviting guests to come down and paint their own artwork for a display.

St Nicholas Church in Newchurch also opened its doors for the heritage event, as guests were invited to remember and pay tribute to those who fought in the First World War as part of the revived ‘Kirk Fair’.

This past weekend Clitheroe Castle Museum marked the occasion by hosting an exhibition depicting 350million years of history, heritage and geography of the area.

Towneley Park also celebrated the occasion by hosting a free open day and Woodland festival for guests to enjoy.
