WATER bosses say supplies in parts of Blackburn should now be returning to normal after problems affected the area this morning.

Engineers from United Utilities first reported problems with domestic supplies at around 9.20am today, in the BB2 postcode area, with water said to be coming out of taps slowly or not at all.

An update later confirmed that an electrical fault in the local area had caused problems with one of their water pumping stations at Fishmoor.

But after 1pm, officials say that the difficulties should have been tackled and the service should have returned to normal.

A United Utilities spokesman said: "Our team of engineers have finished the repair and the water should be starting to flow normally again.

"However it may take up to two hours for the water pressure to return to normal levels. We’re sorry if this has affected people and thank customers for their patience.

"Because there’s been some disturbance to the pipes in the area people may notice the water is a little cloudy or discoloured."

If anyone is still concerned they are being asked to consult with the discoloured water page on the company's website.
