A HARD-HITTING presentation about what can happen by joining a gang was given to students in years nine and 10 at Fearns Community Sports College.
The Stacksteads school welcomed Liberate, which was set through Blackburn with Darwen Council and is funded by the Home Office.
In an hour-long presentation, pupils were asked to describe different types of crime and watched a film featuring reformed criminals.
They also heard real stories about children their own age and the problems they had got themselves after joining a gang.
Katie Race, 14, said: βIt made me realise that getting involved in a gang can not just affect you but other members of your family.β
The presentation was led by Jane Wignall and Andy Winters, whose background is working in the Youth Offending Team.
