A MAN who was attacked by his partner told magistrates he didn’t want to see him sent to prison.

Jordan Walker told Blackburn magistrates the thought of Daniel Jackson going to prison was ‘emotionally destroying’ him. Mr Walker said: “All I want is for us to get back together and get on with our relationship.

“I hope Danny knows I have tried to stop these proceedings by making a retraction statement and that I love him dearly.”

The court heard Mr Walker’s plea was made despite the fact Jackson had been sent to a youth offending institute for two years for assaulting and wounding Mr Walker when the defendant was a juvenile.

Jackson, 24, of Fishmoor Drive, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to assaulting Mr Walker and damaging a door locking chain and a television belonging to him. He was sentenced to 16 weeks in custody, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to complete 15 days rehabilitation activity and pay £120 costs and £115 victim surcharge.

Enza Geldard, prosecuting, said the defendant and the victim lived at separate addresses. They had been out while Mr Walker was working as a DJ and had a few drinks before returning to Mr Walker’s home. There was a row before Jackson left and Mr Walker locked the door and put the chain on.

The defendant returned shortly after and broke the chain as he came back into the flat and attacked his partner, punching him in the face while he had a bunch of keys in his hand.

Jonathan Taylor, defending, said: there were no winners in what had been an unfortunate incident which had quite an impact on Mr Walker. “The relationship is going to continue and a suspended prison sentence would act as a reminder to my client that this is not the way to treat someone you are in a loving relationship with.”
