A 21-YEAR-OLD from Blackburn who ‘brightened the mood of everyone he met’ has died in a motorcycle accident.

Joshua Duxbury was riding his beloved motorbike on the A59 close to the Bolton Abbey roundabout in North Yorkshire when he collided with a lorry.

The former Witton Academy student suffered horrific injuries and died at the scene, police said.

He was on his way to open up his family’s business, the Route 59 Café, where he worked as a chef, when the accident happened.

Joshua’s uncle, Neil Duxbury, 46, speaking on behalf of the family, said: “Josh was a truly outstanding young lad.

“His passion was always bikes, as is the rest of his family, and we often travelled to events such as the Isle of Man TT races.

“He was charismatic, friendly and a credit to our family.

“Everyone is stunned by what happened on Saturday. He will be missed forever by all of us.”

Joshua, who studied to be a chef at Accrington and Rossendale College, was passionate about motorbikes and had recently returned from a 10-day trip with his father Sean and his friends to Northern Ireland to watch the North West 200 event.

Andy Bradley, who runs Rocket Centre Motorcycle Training at the Trident Centre, Blackburn, taught Joshua to ride his first motorcycle.

He said: “I’m simply stunned that he’s gone. You could not meet a nicer and more generous lad.

“Bikes were his life and he was a truly fantastic person.”

Joshua, lived with his family in the Oakhill area of Blackburn.

He will be remembered by bikers across the country for his friendliness and showing an interest in their bikes when they stopped at his mum Audrey’s cafe.

Joshua’s friend Phil Corner has set up a JustGiving page in his memory with the funds being donated to his family.

Phil said on the site: “Most of you will have crossed paths with him, if not from growing up as friends to chatting with him at Route 59 bikers cafe and enjoying one of his coffees or breakfasts.

“His love of motorbikes was his passion.

“Nobody had a bad word to say about Josh. He will never be forgotten.”

Tributes have also flooded social media with many remembering Joshua on his family’s cafe Facebook page.

Rebékah Watson said: “It just won’t sink in.

“What a amazing guy Joshua really was. He always had a smile on his face and would do anything for everyone.

“He always brightened up everyone’s mood.”

John Brennand said: “He was the first person I ever met at the cafe, he came bounding out just to look at the bike with a big beaming smile.

“He just made us want to come back time after time. A massive loss.”

School friend, Sam Ali from Blackburn, said: “I grew up with Josh, he lived on the next street from me. We played for our first football team together at Revidge, went through primary and high school.

“Josh was honestly one of the nicest lads you will ever meet.”

Friend Ryan Hurley said: “Josh was an absolutely top guy.

“We had some good laughs with him in school and his laugh and smile were infectious.”

As well as his mum and dad, Joshua leaves behind his brothers Phil, 26, and Kurtis, 24.

A North Yorkshire police spokesman said: “Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the motorbike or lorry in the moments leading up to the collision at 8.30am, is asked to call the police if they have not already done so.

“Anyone with any information should call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for the Major Collision Investigation Team or email MCIT@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.”
