A MAJOR road through Blackburn has been partially closed following a two-car crash.

Police and paramedics have been called to King Street following a crash involving a silver Volkswagen Golf and a blue Vauxhall Astra at 3.50pm.

A man in his 40s has been taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital with a lower arm injury which is not thought to be life-threatening.

The male driver of one of the cars is said to have back and neck injuries The incident has happened in King Street at the junction with Montague Street and has caused delays for evening commuters.

A police spokesman said: "We were called to King Street, Blackburn. at 3.50pm this afternoon to reports of a two vehicle collision involving a silver Volkswagen Golf and a blue Vauxhall Astra.

"The incident has happened at the junction with Montague Street. Paramedics are also at the scene.

"The driver of one of the vehicles is thought to have suffered neck and back injuries and another person has suffered a swollen arm. Neither injury is though to be serious."

A spokesman for the North West Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a two-vehicle collision at the bottom of Montague Street, Blackburn at 3,40pm.

"We have transported a male in his 40s who is suffering from lower arm pain to Royal Blackburn Hospital."
