A 21-YEAR-OLD man who was given a suspended prison sentence for seven offences of thefts was caught on CCTV making a high speed shoplift the very next day.

Blackburn magistrates heard Sean Joseph Cullen spent just 32 seconds in British Home Stores before walking out with £600-worth of property which was not recovered.

Cullen, of the Islington Motel, Great Bolton Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to three charges of shoplifting and admitted being in breaching of a community order. He was jailed for a total of 26 weeks and ordered to pay £115 victim surcharge on his release.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said most of the offences were committed in Colne, including the one for which he was given a suspended prison sentence.

She said the offence in BHS in Blackburn was captured on CCTV.

“In just 32 seconds he helped himself to £600 worth of stock and then left the store,” said Miss Allan. “None of the property was recovered.”

Adnan Hanif, defending, said his client had been warned on the last occasion he appeared in court that if he committed any further offences he would be jailed.

“That warning would still have been ringing in his ears when he committed the latest offence,” said Mr Hanif.

“He is living in Blackburn because certain people in Colne, where he comes from, have made it clear that if they see him there will be trouble.”
