SCOOTER enthusiasts in Blackburn are gearing up for their most ambitious ever charity fundraiser with a mini-festival at King George's Hall.

And the Restless Natives Scooter Club is keeping it real - and local - for their winter spectacular in the Windsor Suite on November 30.

Not only do True Order - a top New Order tribute act - boast a Blackburn-born drummer in Pete Norman but club member and professional DJ Sandro Valentino will take a turn behind the decks for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation bash.

The bill also features East Lancashire indie hopefuls Urban Empire, with Nick Gizzi on vocals, who have supported Buzzcocks, China Crisis and Young Knives, and On Parole, devotees of The Clash, and mod DJ Josh.

Club spokesman Ady Youds, from Roe Lee, said: "This will be the third event we have staged and we have decided to do it in aid of Rosemere.

"It is a good cause and cancer affects everyone, including a couple of our members, so we wanted to do something for a local charity."

The club was first formed in 1986, with meetings revolving around The Farthings in Rosewood Avenue, but membership dwindled as the years advanced.

But several riders came together to 'resurrect' the Restless Natives four or five years ago and the collective has not looked back.

They still hold regular rideouts and arrange meetings, whenever they can marshall enough interest.

An initial fundraiser at The Farthings, in aid of prostate cancer and diabetes charities, was a success, leading to a gig in February at King George's, featuring a Joy Division tribute, which raised around £1,700.

Tickets for the latest fundraiser can be obtained in advance from the venue, priced £6, through Ticketmaster, or on the door on the night for £8.
