TRAVELLERS illegally parked on a council-owned car park said they will not leave until they are issued with a court order.
The owners of the six caravans on Canterbury Street pay and display car park in Blackburn town centre were due to be issued with the court order yesterday despite the council giving them until Thursday to move.
It is expected to take between two and three weeks to remove the group.
Dave Harling, councillor for Wensley Fold, said that although a council-run caravan site currently had a waiting list, the area had more private provision than other areas.
He said: “We have more sites than some towns but the problem with creating more is that many people don’t want sites near them.
“If the travellers were more co-operative, it would save us money in court costs.”
