Soprano Camilla Kerslake will top the bill at a candlelight concert to raise funds for Rosemere Cancer Foundation at Blackburn Cathedral.

Camilla sang the National Anthem at Wembley before the 2010 League Cup final. She also starred as Cosette in the 25th anniversary production of Les Miserables at the Queen’s Theatre, London, and her debut album received a Classical Brit nomination.

Bootiful she may be. She is a crossover singer, with appeal to the masses who do not know, and care not to know, what a classical singer is called to do. Popular, yes; from the top-drawer of classical singers, no. This is not to say, of course, that she will not enjoy success. But the highest of praise is beyond her, for now. She has an odd breathing manner and and all-but-taps her foot. These and a few other faults can be fixed, but will she care enough to try?
