Blackburn's older people to be given voice in new song

A BLACKBURN sheltered housing scheme is hoping to give older people more of a voice.

Staff from Anchor’s St Philips Court, St Philips Street, Blackburn, are part of a national project, in which people over 60 will contribute to the words of a charity song, to be released as a single.

Jean Lowes hopes older people will drop into St Philips Court and get involved.

She said: “The lyrics of the song will be shaped by people’s experiences. I would like to hear about older people’s achievements, aspirations, and the challenges they have overcome, as well as the benefits of old age.”

Like it or not but 75 and overs should be introduced into residential care. We have an housing shortage in this country. Its time they where encouraged to give up there homes at a reasonable price, or pass it on to a younger member of their family who will agree to look after their elderly relative.

or why not reopen workhouses that would achieve the same aims? or even better how about a social housing policy that incorporates logans run type scenario?
