AN EAST Lancashire pet is hoping to win the nation’s heart on TV and star in an advertising campaign.

Dan Carrick and his dog Simba are delighted after auditions for the ITV2 programme Top Dog Model saw the 14-month-old get through to the final six.

The lovable Leonberger, which is a giant German breed, passed pre-auditions, television auditions and made it through to ‘Paw Camp’.

Last night he was unveilled as being in the final six. If Simba passes challenges and wins the title, he will earn a contract with cleaning brand giants Cif.

Dan, 25, of Hoyle Street, Rising Bridge, said: “My ambition throughout the show has been to get as many people as possible to fall in love with my larger-than-life dog, who loves all the attention he gets.

“Simba and I are the only contestants from ‘way up north’, so I hope there will be a bit of local support for him.

“The judges make the final decision but it’s nice to have people cheering him on.”

Dan, a support worker at Belmont School, lives with partner Christine Stonehewer and two Chihuahua’s Bella and Lordy.

Simba’s progress in becoming the new face of Cif can be watched on ITV2 every Wednesday at 8pm.
