A YOB went on a rampage causing thousands of pounds of damage to five parked cars, a court heard.

George Taylor, 23, of Sandifield Drive, Bacup, jumped on windscreens and ripped off wing mirrors and aerials.

Police were alerted by reports of a man seen kicking vehicles, jumping on top of them and throwing wheelie bins.

He admitted five counts of criminal damage at a hearing at Burnley magistrates on Wednesday.

Five vehicles were dented, scratched and had wing mirrors and aerials broken off.

Taylor targeted a blue Toyota Avensis, smashing the front windscreen by jumping on it and denting the roof panel, causing around £1,000 of damage.

Other vehicles parked on Pennine Road which Taylor vandalised were two Peugeot 106s, a Mercedes C180 and a Renault Kangoo, which again had its windscreen smashed during the incident in Pennine Road, Bacup, on Wednesday, July 18 at around 3.30am.

They sustained damage valued at around £1,800 in total.

Magistrates imposed a four-month community order on Taylor, including electronic tagging and curfew.

From now until December 7, he must remain at his home between 7pm and 7am.

He will be electronically tagged to monitor his whereabouts.

No compensation order was made by the court due to Taylor’s limited means.

A police spokesman, said: “This is mindless criminal damage which has caused much damage, upset and inconvenience to the owners of all the vehicles involved.

“I’m pleased Taylor has admitted his actions and has been punished by the courts.”
