FOUR teenage boys have been arrested in connection with a ‘serious sexual assault’ in Blackburn town centre yesterday.

A 15-year-old, a 16-year-old and two 17-year-old boys, all from Blackburn, were arrested after a 19-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted in the car park at the rear of the Stage Door pub, at the corner of St Peter’s Street and Mincing Lane, Blackburn.

The victim was attacked around 1am yesterday, police said.

Following the alleged attack she immediately contacted police who closed off the area.

Police community support officers were yesterday standing guard at the crime scene. Since the incident detectives have been holding video recorded interviews with the victim to discover the extent of the attack. Det Sgt Mark Saunders, of Blackburn CID, said: “Four individuals have been arrested and taken into custody in relation to this incident.

“Our investigation is still ongoing but at this stage we are not looking for anyone else. Specially trained officers now are working closely with the victim to ensure she receives all the help she needs.”
