A CONTROVERSIAL lap dancing club will open its doors for the first time tomorrow.
iCandy, will be launched in Accrington town centre despite opposition from residents and recruitment agencies, a lack of dancers and a 1,500-signature petition against the club.
The manager of the club, which will open in Blackburn Road following a ribbon ceremony, said staff were hoping to put the recent set-backs behind them ‘by concentrating on providing a top class professional service’.
Kate Hartley, a 45-year-old grandma, said: “We are really excited the opening date has finally arrived. A lot of hard work has gone into getting to this stage.
“We will be running a staff training evening tonight ahead of the big night. We are still looking out for dancers. We have not been able to find as many ladies as we would of liked simply because they have not met our high standards.
“We are aware a lot of people are against us but we are hoping for best.”

You had better stay well away then and wrap yourself in cotton wool, i bet your mum would be very jealous of you if she found out that you had been somewhere like this.

Fortunately, because we live in an (almost) secular, democratic country, we now have this opportunity for people to decide what they want. If there is a call for this kind of bar, somebody will make a lot of money - and a lot of people will go home happy.
If ‘we the people’ decide that it’s not what we want or need, and vote with our feet, then it’ll not be long before it’s closed.

So you must have been in for a preview then to know it is a raised floor.
I'll bet when you have a private full frontal session you'll be living up to your name going after the rat in a hole.
Hope you don't meet my mum she is 38 - 22 - 36 and that's just the shape of her nose.

These clubs have been and gone previously, I doubt if it will last, I just hope the council who have taken a moral stand will not be charging extra for the licence fee. I do hope the local councilors will pay a site visit and advise the public accordingly.
As for me, I am capable of making my own mind up.

I'm all for strip clubs as they have their time, place and demographic.
If you want to go, then go.
If you don't, then shut up and don't go.
However, what really jumps out from this article is "45-year old GRANDMA..."
HOW?!

The total demise of Accrington is now complete, now know as Skankrington the place where no one has a job and a wife supports her bloke by working in the strip club R.I.P. a once great town

Good choice to open on a Friday.
The customers can go straight from the Mosque, after collecting a curry on the way.
Remember they don't sell pork pies, like at a football match.

If you want to spot a celebrity, that's the place to go as obviously Wayne Rooney will have his own seat if that's the kind of woman 'entertaining' in there.
And why are these things (doomed to failure, naturally) always well behind the curve? Is this area so backward it hasn't caught up with anything 'now'? Do they seriously think Accrington is sophisticated enough to be home such a club? I'll give it until November before it announces its closure.

It is the year 2012 and i'm sure there's worse things happening for people to complain about. Any business creating jobs for local people has to be a good thing, noboby is forced to work or go there so good look.

how many opposed to this club have complained about "This Morning" having on male strippers?
i`m all for this club, if this club offends you, then don`t go in, just get offended by the door and sign.
also will there be any protests outside Vue cinema, when they show "Magic Mike" a film featuring male strippers? where 15yo girls can go and watch it?
