A GREAT-great-grandfather, from Burnley, was celebrating receiving a telegram from the Queen this week.
John Chapman spent his 100th birthday celebrating with family at Hilton Read Home, in Padiham, on Monday.
And his eldest son, John Jr, 75, said his father puts his good health down to popping out of the home for a cheeky pint on the way back from trips to the barbers.
He said: “He’s taken his retirement seriously by doing not very much! He’s well looked after at the home, and comes from a long line of family members who lived well into their 90s.”
He has lived at the home since suffering a stroke 10 years ago while living with John Jr and his wife, Ann, in Coal Clough Lane, Burnley.
After working for Lucas Aerospace during the Second World War, John went on to be a pattern-worker in Padiham, and then finished his working life at GKN Aerospace.
