DARWEN town centre police have reminded people heading to this weekend’s Darwen Live music festival that alcohol cannot be taken into the festival area.
The event is on Sunday and Monday, and alcoholic drinks must be bought from the on-site beer tent or from the Bridgewater pub.
Drinks from the Bridgewater will be sold in plastic containers so they can be taken outside.
PC Mark Edwards, community beat manager for the town centre, said: “People are allowed to drink alcohol inside the festival perimeter, as long as it is bought from within.
“This is purely for public safety reasons.”
Stewards will perform bag searches at the entrance to the town centre stage and drinks in plastic containers brought from bars elsewhere in Darwen are also banned.
