ONE of Burnley’s most famous and well-established car dealerships has closed its doors.

The Lookers Volkswagen garage, in Barracks Road, off the Cavalry Way roundabout, has been boarded up and the site left deserted.

Nobody from the firm was available to comment on the closure yesterday.

But according to a statement on the Lookers website, existing customers will now have to travel to the Blackburn branch for servicing or any other arrangements.

The statement said: “Lookers Volkswagen dealers in Burnley have officially closed their doors as of May 25.

However, if you live in or around the Burnley area and you are looking to purchase a new or used Volkswagen Car or Volkswagen parts & servicing, than you are only a 12-minute drive from your nearest Volkswagen dealership in Blackburn.

“Lookers Volkswagen dealers in Blackburn offer more service bays, parking spaces and a large range of new and approved used Volkswagen cars, as with all of our branches, we only use authorised Volkswagen parts when carrying out maintenance work or servicing on your car, and all of our staff at the branch are manufacturer trained, so we can continue to provide our customers with the quality and safety satisfaction they deserve.

“Volkswagen Burnley customers will also be able to take advantage of the facilities at our new state-of-the-art showroom which we are in the process of developing.”
