RED, white and blue products have been flying off the shelves across East Lancashire as the Queen's Diamond Jubilee approaches.

Old favourites such as union jack flags, broaches and tiaras have been as popular as ever.

However, anything and everything seems to be available in red, white and blue.

From wigs, tootoos and feather boas, to egg cups, pillows and nodding bull dogs.

Blackburn Market stalls and the stores in the Mall are all offering a range of products to celebrate the Jubilee.

Matt Cooper, Store Manager of Debenhams, Blackburn said: "Our whole range of jubilee products have been popular.

"We have had to keep restocking our ladies and men's Great Britain fashion range."

A Debenhams staff member said:The egg cups have been sold the most."

According to the Blackburn Market stalls the elderly have been their most frequent customers for Jubilee related items.

Lesley Hayhurst, who works on the Octagon Card and Gifts stall in the Market said: "Union jack flags, bunting and broaches have been popular with the elderly."

Staff in the Claire's Accessories store in Blackburn said: "Tiaras have been popular with both women and men.

"All of the red, white and blue products have sold quite well really."

Gill Bates, assistant manager at the Marie Curie shop, in St James's Street, Burnley, said people in the town had been ispired to join in the celebrations after the Queen’s visit last week.

She said: “We have got a few flags up in the window and a little bit of red, white and blue tinsel too.

“We have seen more people coming into the shop and asking for things in those colours and they also ask for the clothes we have in the window display.

“It is nice that when there is a big national event that people think about the charity.”
