THE mother of a teenager was the victimof a race-hate murder is to be the main speaker at a racial and religious hate conference in Blackburn tomorrow.
Gee Walker will talk at the event in King George’s Hall about her son’s death and how she set up a charity in her son’s name as well as promoting efforts to reduce hate crime and build safe communities.
Her son, Anthony Walker, a black student, died in 2005 when he was 18.
He was killed in an unprovoked racist attack at a bus stop in Liverpool by two white men.
The conference has been organised by the ExcChange partnership from Blackburn Cathedral, Lancashire Constabulary and Woman’s Voice.
There is a session in the morning for schools only and from 1-4pm for the public. Tickets are £7.
