A PENDLE charity held an event this week to celebrate 18 months of working with women and families in Brierfield.
The action has been an extension of the work that the charity carries out in Nelson.
In Nelson, AAWAZ has been supporting women and families for the past five years.
This work is financed through the charity’s own fundraising and donation system.
AAWAZ has also recently teamed up with the Family Trees Family Centre to hold weekly group sessions in the area for around 15 women each week.
AAWAZ Brierfield group is celebrating the achievement of the women who have been learning the English language.
The charity has been working in East Lancashire since 1997 and helps women and families to work towards integration in a wider society, and creates a better understanding between communities.
The retiring mayor of Pendle, Coun Nadeem Ahmed, and AAWAZ patron Jean Battle attended the event.
