A “PROLIFIC” drug dealer who played a major part in the supply of heroin on the streets of Pendle has been locked up.

A police raid in Chapel Street, Nelson, back in February this year found around 500 individual street wraps worth around £10,000.

On Wednesday Raja Imran Khan, 32, of Arthur Street, Nelson, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply heroin at Burnley Crown Court.

Sgt Martin Storey said tackling drugs was a key priority for officers.

“Khan was prolific player in the supply of heroin on the streets of Pendle,” he said.

“Tackling drugs and the misery they cause to our communities is a key priority for the police and we will continue to do everything within our power to target dealers and bring them to justice.”

The raid followed an investigation by Pennine Division’s Targeted Crime Team.

Khan has been in trouble with the courts for heroin previously, in 2009 he was sentenced to five years in prison following a hearing at Burnley Crown Court, after being arrested following a raid in 2008 and charged with three offences of possessing the class A drug.

As a result of that case he was forced to hand over £13,000 that was seized by police.

Officers are appealing for anybody else with information about drugs in their community to contact them.

Anyone with information or concerns about drugs can contact police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
