A DRUNK being treated at Royal Blackburn Hospital told paramedics he had hepatitis c and threatened to bite them.
Blackburn magistrates heard Barry Lumsden ripped tiles off the ceiling of a toilet room and stole medical supplies during the time he was at the hospital receiving assistance.
Lumsden, 25, of Camelon, Falkirk, pleaded guilty to criminal damage, theft and assault.
He was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months and ordered to do 200 hours unpaid work and pay £145 compensation and £85 costs.
Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said Lumsden was taken into a separate room for treatment because he kept running up and down the corridors making a nuisance of himself.
Jonathan Taylor, defending, said his client understood the consequences of his behaviour which must have been unpleasant for the staff.
“They were going about their daily business trying to help people, including him,” said Mr Taylor.
“He accepts what is being said but the difficulty for him is that he has absolutely no recollection of the incidents.”
