THE mother of a Haslingden teenager stabbed to death at a house party is planning a lasting tribute to her son.

Heartbroken mum Carole Lord said she plans to create several memorials for her 17-year-old son Declan Eastwood, so his family and friends will have a place to go to remember him.

On Tuesday, 25-year-old Sean Fell, of George Street, Haslingden was cleared by a jury at Preston Crown Court of Declan’s murder and the lesser charge of manslaughter on the grounds of self defence.

Mrs Lord said: “Declan was a lovely lad, but that has never been mentioned.

“I was even asked to prepare a statement describing Declan’s personality for the court case but it was never read out.

“I don’t feel like he is at rest yet and that is not right. I won’t be able to rest until I have justice for him.

“I have been in talks with Declan’s old school, Haslingden High and we are going to put a bench in the grounds with a plaque on it, so people will always remember him.

“I am also aware that all of Declan’s other family and friends want to do something too, but with the trial, this has been put on hold.

“We are planning to have a meeting soon to see what we can do.”

A Facebook page called Justice for Declan Eastwood has also been set up and has so far attracted more than 1,500 members.

As well as collecting money for memorials, Mrs Lord is also collecting donations for the North West Air Ambulance.

Mrs Lord said: “I have always been a supporter of the air ambulance and two weeks before Declan died, my best friend was killed in a motorbike accident.

“He was flown to the Royal Blackburn Hospital, where Declan was treated after he was stabbed, because it has a hellipad.

“So I now feel a big connection.”

Declan died after being stabbed up to 12 times while at a house party in Princess Street, Haslingden in August 2011.
