SUPPORTERS of a special needs swimming club are taking part in a 180-mile sponsored cycle ride.
Ten parents of child members of Rossendale Rays Special Needs Swimming Club will be riding the 180 mile Lochs and Glens route, right through the heart of Scotland from May 9 until 13.
Team leader Paul Mulderigg, from Rawtenstall, said: “This is the fifth Annual Rossy Rays Bike Ride.
“Our intrepid team are taking on a 180 mile Lochs and Glens cycling challenge from Aberfoyle to Inverness in Scotland.
“We've seen the map and it looks very hilly.
“It costs us over £10,000 a year to run the Rays and we are entirely self-funded, so if you can support us it would be a massive help. The riders all pay their own way, so every penny we raise in sponsorship goes straight into club funds.”
This year’s team includes Lee Kershaw, Anil Joshi, Dan Hatton, Oliver Martin, Tom Mulderrig, Steve Wright, Paul Mulderrig and Liam Spencer.
Rossendale Rays Swimming Club provides water-based leisure activities for children with special needs, every Sunday from 3.30 and 5.30 pm at Marl Pits Swimming Pool, in Rawtenstall.
