THE mugshot of a Blackburn man, who was jailed indefinitely after a series of robberies, is to feature in a police poster campaign.

Christopher Corkin, 19, of Ravensglass Close, Blackburn, last summer attacked a 59-year-old Lithuanian woman who suffered severe cuts to her neck.

He also threatened to stab a 23-year-old man and a 40-year-old female Blackburn shopkeeper with a knife.

He was given an indeterminate sentence, to serve a minimum of four years, at the end of March.

Corkin had pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery, attem-pted robbery and theft, poss-ession of an offensive weapon, and assaulting a police officer.

He will only be released when he can prove that he is no longer a danger to the public.

The posters, which say: ‘Four years, thanks to you’ and ‘Your neighbourhood is safer. Let’s keep it that way’, have been handed out to residents in the Audley area of Blackburn, where some of the offences took place.

They are designed to inform local communities how long criminals have been sent to prison for, and reassure them about the action taken by police. DI Mark Winstanley said: “They are a clear illustration to members of the public of the police determ-ination to reduce crime and remove criminals from the streets.”
