A CARNIVAL atmosphere will be spreading throughout Bacup this Easter as the town celebrates the boundary to boundary dance.

Thousands of people are expected to watch street dancers perform throughout the town.

Shops and traders have been invited to dress up their premises and stalls on the day in the hopes of enticing more visitors.

Bacup Consortium Trust, Stacksteads Countryside Park Group, charity REAL are among the groups working with Rossendale Council to organise the celebration. REAL community development worker Pat Smith said: “We had some fantastic feedback after the Christmas event.

“People said how wonderful it was to see the market so full and vibrant so on Easter Saturday we are planning to fill the market stalls with arts and crafts people to recreate that atmosphere.

“We also want shops to enter into the spirit and decorate their windows in Coconutter colours.

“At the A, B and D Centre there will be stalls for community groups and Bacup Pride will be represented and selling the I love Bacup badges.

“The Royal Court Theatre will be open and there will be an event on at Bacup Hub.

“We are going to be issuing leaflets that not only promote the events but local businesses too.

“This is a golden opportunity to make the traditional ’Nutters Saturday into an even more spectacular day.”
