PETROL stations across East Lancashire reported 'business as usual' yesterday following several days of shortages after a fuel panic.
Garages ran dry last week after fuel tanker drivers voted to go on strike.
The vast majority of petrol stations are now fully stocked in the area, with the remaining few awaiting deliveries.
Masud Ainekar, manager of the Beehive Service Station in Blackburn, said: “Sales of petrol and diesel were up from about 80,000 litres on a normal week to 127,000 litres last week.”
Carolyn Grieves, manager at Mister C in Helmshore Road, Haslingden, said: “It is all back to normal.
“I think we might even be quieter than usual because everyone has a full tank!
“Panic buying had a knock-on affect with deliveries and that's what we are dealing with now.”
Nationally, forecourts saw a dramatic rise in the sale of petrol and diesel last week.
Tankers drivers union representatives were due to meeting the arbitration service ACAS and the Government to try and prevent strike action.
