THE family and friends of Royal Marine David Fairbrother who was killed in Afghanistan last year are to take part in a sky dive over the Easter weekend.

The 24-year-old was known for his love of extreme sports and his mum Julie, sisters Ruth and Emily, and a total of 20 other friends and family, plan to continue his legacy in aid of the Royal Marines’ Charitable Trust Fund.

Since doing his first skydive nine years ago David completed more than 100 jumps.

David’s best friend, Ben Fry, said: “He qualified as a skydiver, gaining his A-Certificate, at the age of 18 and shortly before going to Leeds University in 2005.

“During his time in Leeds, Dave was part of the University skydiving society.

“Throughout his skydiving career, he jumped a total of 108 times and managed to convince a number of his family and friends to join him along the way. His last jump was with his sister Emily, who he had also convinced to do a tandem skydive for her 18th birthday.

The former QEGS pupil, from Beardwood Brow, was killed in September last year while on patrol in Helmand with his 42 Commando Kilo Company.

The jump takes place on Saturday. For more information visit http://www.justgiving.com/david-fairbrother
