A TAXI driver was robbed at knife-point after picking up three men from outside a pub.

Asad Raza, 32, said he was now set to quit his job after being left ‘terrified’ by the incident.

Police are hunting three men who got away with £80 of Mr Raza’s takings along with his sat-nav and smartphone.

He had an eight-inch kitchen knife held to his throat, and was also threatened with a metal bar in the incident after dropping the trio in Ermine Close, Blackburn, at 10.15pm on Tuesday night.

They had been picked up at the Lion Hotel in Wensley Road earlier.

The married father-of-one had only been in his job as a taxi driver for two months. But he said that following the robbery and after being punched by a drunk passenger two weeks ago he now wants to quit his job.

Mr Raza, who lives in Revidge, Blackburn, said: “It was a very scary experience.

“I have been to the hospital for something to help me calm down and sleep.

“Two weeks ago I was punched in the face by a passenger and now this has happened.

“I don’t want to drive taxis any more. It is too risky.”

Det Insp Mark Winstanley said: “This man has just been trying to earn a living and to be targeted in this way is clearly unacceptable.”

Mr Raza’s dark green Vauxhall Astra has been seized and is being examined by police.

The three men were all described as white and aged in their mid-20s.
