DOZENS of police took to the streets of Burnley today for a day of action against prolific burglars.
Ten people were arrested for a variety of drug and burglary offences after officers raided eight homes across the town.
As well as targeting criminals who lived and operated in the town the action also targeted travelling criminals who were coming from West Yorkshire and Manchester to target houses in Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale.
A number of raids were carried out at address in Burnley to try to recover stolen property and disrupt the actions of criminals.
Officers also set up patrols on three key routes into the area and carried out a high-profile briefing at Gannow Top.
Chief Insp Jeff Brown said: “Burglary is at the lowest level it has ever been in this area but we will still target those committing crimes.
“As well as targeting criminals in the Burnley area we are focusing on the travelling criminality from West Yorkshire and Lancashire.”
