ACCRINGTON Stanley are looking for the owner of a cat who has made his home at the club’s Crown Ground.

The playful kitten was found at the football stadium in Livingstone Road at the weekend.

Nicknamed Oliver by the League Two side’s staff, the small tabby is thought to be just a few months old, but he does not have any contact details on his red collar.

His discovery follows the appearance of ‘Shankly’ the cat during a Premier League game between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

The tricky moggy made international news headlines after play was stopped when he ran across the Anfield turf and eluded stewards.

And in an effort to avoid a similar feline pitch invasion here in East Lancashire, Stanley are hoping to trace their new resident’s rightful home.

The club’s chief executive Rob Heys said: “He just appeared on our doorstep and he’s been hanging around the ground ever since.

“We’ve put some food and milk out for him every night and found a warm space where we’ve been putting a heater on to keep him warm overnight.

“He’s made quite an impact with everybody here, but we would like to trace his real owner and hopefully reunite them.”

The furry fan is described as being in good condition and very friendly.

And Rob said he will always be welcome at Stanley, with or without a season ticket.

Rob said: “If we can reunite him with his owner he can still come back on match days!”

Anyone with any information about the cat can call in at the club or ring 01254 356950.
