THREE men who became involved in a fight at a bowling alley have been jailed for a total of over five years.

The incident left a 20-year-old man with a severe cut to his head and bruising to his body and arms after he was attacked with a pint glass.

The trio fled the scene in a Lamborghini and Rolls Royce.

Hassan Waqqar Malik, 26, of Pringle Street Blackburn, Mohammed Danish Junaid, 22, of Taylor Street, Nelson, and Shabaz Nawaz, 27, of Edith Street, Blackburn, all pleaded guilty to violent disorder after appearing at Preston Crown Court.

Malik was also found guilty of section 18 wounding after a three day trial.

alik was given four years six months; Junaid was jailed for 36 weeks and Nawaz was sentenced to one year two weeks imprisonment.

All three men admitted their involvement in the fight at Bowlplex, Mason Street, Blackburn, around 9.40pm on Monday, December 27, 2010.

DC Steve Russell said: “This was a violent and unprovoked attack on a group of innocent people and it was lucky no one was seriously injured.

“Members of the public have the right to go out and enjoy themselves without being subjected to extreme violence and I hope these sentences act as warning to anyone who thinks serious violent crime is acceptable that it won’t be tolerated.

“I would like to reassure the people of Blackburn that incidents of this nature are very rare but where they do happen, we will carryout robust and thorough investigations to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.”
