A SUPERNANNY to the stars, who swapped Burnley for Hollywood, has become a mum for the first time.

Stella Reid is known to millions of TV viewers as 'Nanny Stella' on her hit Nanny 911 primetime American show, which is now airing on ITV2.

She is featured visiting families with unruly children in traditional nanny dress similar to that worn by Mary Poppins.

But the 47-year-old has never had her own children and had to undergo six years of gruelling IVF fertility treatment.

Now, she is the proud mum of a little boy called Mason James who was born weighing 7lbs 11oz.

Stella, who still has family in Burnley and comes over regularly to visit, said: “I spent a lot of time concentrating on my career as a nanny and I only decided late on that I was ready for children.

“Even when me and my husband Mike were going through IVF, I never felt like it wasn’t going to happen.

“But I will say I can’t imagine myself leaving Mason to go and look after somebody else’s children.”

Stella moved from Brunsgrove Road, Burnley, to the bright lights of Los Angeles in 1989.

As well as appearing in the hit TV show, she also found fame when she co-wrote the parental guide: Nanny 911: Expert Advice for All Your Parenting Emergencies.

Stella, who is stepmum to to her husband Mike’s son Justin, 21, said: “Nanny 911 in essence is over. I am now working on new ideas to pitch to the television networks out here.

“I am also planning a visit to Burnley in March next year, as my mum still lives there.

“I would say Burnley is close to my heart as it is where I grew up but it is often in the news for the wrong reasons.

“I think a lot of problems more family time could help with some of the issues with young people in the town.”

Stella has worked as a Nanny with some of Hollywood's biggest stars, but cannot name them as she is bound by confidentiality agreements.
