A MAN suffered a broken leg when he was knocked down in Blackburn late last night.

Police said the man had been standing in the middle of the road when he was struck by a Peugeot 206 at 10.45pm.

It is understood several other vehicles had narrowly missed the man before he was hit.

The man was knocked unconscious and the road had to be closed for 90 minutes while investigation works were completed at the site.

He suffered facial injuries as well as a fractured lower leg and was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment.

The incident happened in Accrington Road, Intack, near the Post Office.
