A RUGBY player who drove home after a night out drinking has been fined more than £300 and banned for 12 months.
West Craven Warriors first team player Daniel Edmondson, 23, was stopped by police after making an illegal right turn from Skipton High Street into Otley Street, in the early hours of July 24, Skipton magistrates heard.
Edmondson, of Gisburn Road, Barnoldswick, was found to have 47 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
The legal limit is 35.
Edmondson, who admitted drink-driving, rarely drank, the court heard in mitigation. He had been in Skipton with friends and had intended to get a taxi home, but arrangements changed.
He was banned for 12 months, fined £290, with £85 costs and a victim surcharge.
If he completes a drink-drivers’ rehabilitation course by March 5 next year, his ban will be reduced by a quarter.
