VOLUNTEERS are being sought to help with this year’s Poppy Appeal in Whalley.

The Royal British Legion has launched its annual campaign and is asking for people to donate their time to help with tasks including collecting money, distributing poppies and counting donations.

Sarah Tinsley, community fundraiser for Lancashire, said: “We really need committed individuals from within the local community to come forward to assist with the Poppy Appeal in the Whalley area.

“The appeal in 2010 raised over £5,000 of vital funds for work of The Royal British Legion. We are keen to make 2011 the best year yet for the Poppy Appeal in the town.

"The Royal British Legion is dedicated to serving those who serve and our annual Poppy Appeal is an essential component that allows us to fund the delivery of our Poppy Support to those who need our help most.”
